Welcome to Future Mom! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Sarah. My husband Seth and I have been married for almost 20 years. We were raised in Michigan where we met in 1998.
It was “flirt at first sight,” which grew into a real, deep love and we married 3 years later. We still genuinely enjoy each other and have loved building a life together and adventuring through it all. Our foundation is our faith in God and everything flows from that. We are leader developers with a bit of a business mind and a love for travel. We are pastors at a ministry school in Northern California where we develop hundreds of leaders from around the world. It is a dream job for us! When we aren't doing that, we grow small businesses, travel the world, gather friends for meals and adventures, and laugh and play as much as possible.
The Story Behind Future Mom (& Dad)
In 2005, 5 years into our marriage we decided to pursue parenthood. Time began ticking as we waited for the double lines on a pregnancy test that we expected immediately. Both of our parents, and our siblings had children without any difficulty, so it never crossed our minds that ours would be a different story. Time rolled on and we started to wonder if something was wrong. Can you relate?
After being checked out by doctors, we found out there was an obstacle to pregnancy with no known cause or fix. That was the beginning of our quest for children, which we are still pursuing 15 years later. As in everything we do, we asked God for help and His response many times and in many ways has always been a promise that we will have children. The crazy part is that we believe Him. God has strengthened us over time and we love sharing the pain, the beauty and the hope we have experienced with our friends. We don’t mind the raw and the real because that is how we truly heal. Somehow, in our desperate unmet desire for children we have found deep joy that has been birthed from the pain. We are not in our promised land yet, but we are enjoying the challenging journey to get there.
